This project was completed at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Schwäbisch Gmünd. In the course "Writing with Pictures" (supervised by Edgar Walthert), laboratory week winter semester 2019/20.
We all have the need for interpersonal (real!) intimacy. Closeness to other people. We get this already in the personal conversation, when we build up sympathy, to our opposite. Very strong intimacy arises from physical contact, holding hands, kisses, sex ... The development of new technologies makes it possible to have conversations without being in the same place. This is nothing new. Or maybe it is? Considering the development of mankind it was not usual to chat through the world by whatsapp most of the time. We like to forget how new these technologies are. We have to watch very carefully what they do to our society and recognize risks and potentials early enough.
Design Process
During the one-week workshop I developed the content of the project and its form of presentation. The design approaches were developed interactively. Short interim presentations and feedback rounds were scheduled every day.
After the exhibition at the end of the week the documentation of the project began. The exhibit was set up and photographed again in the photo studio.
